The Widdifield Wildcats won the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics AA volleyball championship yesterday in the Soo.
In senior action, the Korah Colts advanced to the gold medal game but came up short, dropping a three-set decision to North Bay’s Wildcats – 25-8, 25-16, 25-11.
Widdifield will advance to the AA Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) tournament as a result of Thursday’s win.
In junior action, Superior Heights went unbeaten in round-robin action to earn a spot in the gold medal game.
In the final, Superior Heights dropped a two-set decision to North Bay’s St. Joseph Scollard Hall – 22-25, 19-25.
