(North Bay, On)
North Bay and Powassan OPP recently investigated two incidents involving impaired driving.

Last Friday night, April 22, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Powassan OPP were dispatched to a collision involving an All Terrain Vehicle on Highway 522 in Pringle Township.

The ATV stuck a guard rail and flipped over ejecting the driver. The male driver attempted to leave the scene, but was distracted by witnesses.

When police arrived, they arrested the operator of the ATV for Impaired Driving.

Shane Reichstein, 36, of Pringle Township received minor injuries. He is charged with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 24, police were alerted to an injured female at the North Bay General Hospital.

Her injuries indicated she was in a motor vehicle collision. She was treated and released. The investigation led police to Redbridge.

Police were looking for a vehicle that may have been in a ditch on the North River Road in Phelps Township.

Police eventually located a damaged vehicle in a driveway on North River Road. It was learned that a male was driving a beige 1990 Volvo with a female passenger.

The vehicle struck a rock retaining wall and a telephone pole. This caused the female passenger to be thrown against the rear of the vehicle and smashing the rear window. The driver was arrested for impaired driving.

Jeffery Aultman, 23, of Phelps Township, is charged with four criminal offences: impaired driving causing bodily harm, care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired, driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood, and obstruction of justice.

Both individuals have a court date on May 31.

Although the two events are unrelated, the common theme is injury from a collision while impaired. The North Bay OPP want to remind motorists that innocent lives are at stake if you choose a “Life Threatening” activity by mixing alcohol and driving. Please “Don’t Drink and Drive”!
