Near North District School Board Trustee Randy Sheppard was recently recognized by the Ontario Public School Boards' Association's (OPSBA) for his 25 years of service in public education.

Randy was one of three Trustees across the province whom was presented with the President's Award at the Public Education Symposium in Toronto.

Trustee Randy Sheppard Randy is a retired store, restaurant and laundromat owner, who has had a wide variety of interesting work experience throughout his career. Randy served with the former Nipissing Board since 1988 and with the Near North District School Board since its inception in 1998.

The OPSBA Awards Program is presented annually, if there are Trustees who meet the criteria. It recognizes outstanding contributions to public education made by individuals from across Ontario. While it is impossible to honour all those dedicated people who make a difference, the recipients of these awards represent the many who work tirelessly and unselfishly to make our schools and education system better.

The Ontario Public School Boards' Association represents 1.2 million students who attend public schools across the province. The Association believes that the role of public education is to provide universally accessible education opportunities for all students regardless of their ethnic, racial or cultural backgrounds, social or economic status, individual exceptionality, or religious preference.
