OPP undercover investigation nets14 arrests in Hearst

Hearst -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Section has charged 14 individuals with drug offences following early morning arrests conducted in the town of Hearst on Wednesday November 21, 2007.

The charges stem from an eight-month undercover investigation conducted by the OPP Drug Enforcement Section assisted by members of the Hearst OPP Detachment.

The investigation focused on infiltrating cocaine traffickers operating in the Hearst area. An undercover officer was successful in infiltrating local traffickers and making numerous drug purchases. The investigation concluded with the execution of five search warrants.

Fourteen individuals have been charged with 80 drug related offences. Drugs purchased and seized during the investigation were 700 grams of cocaine, 275 grams of hashish, 125 grams of marihuana, 28 grams of Psilocybin, 25 grams of Ecstasy and 15 Oxycontin pills. The street value of the drugs seized is $ 80,000.

In addition, two vehicles, $22,000 in cash, a money counting machine, a cocaine press and five rifles were also seized. Charges are pending against two more individuals.
