The Ontario Provincial Police and Temiskaming Shores Police Service has announced the re-issue of a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Melanie ETHIER.

At approximately 2.00 a.m. on September 29th 1996, Melanie ETHIER then aged 15, left a private residence to walk a short distance to her home in Temiskaming Shores. ETHIER did not arrive at her residence and was reported missing to the Temiskaming Shores Police later that day.

Melanie ETHIER is described as a black female, 165 cm (5’5”), 54 kg (120 lbs.), brown eyes, long braided hair. Last seen wearing a green Nike jacket, blue jeans, white T-shirt with blue heart (Pepe logo) and black boots. Foul play is suspected in this disappearance.

Police have also accepted a request from Court TV Canada, to feature the Melanie ETHIER Missing Persons Case on their program Crime Files: Cold Case Edition. The episode featuring Melanie will be aired on Wednesday December 13th at 6 and 11 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday December 16th and 17th at 6.30 and 11.30 p.m.

Investigators from Temiskaming Shores Police Service, and the Temiskaming Crime Unit under the direction of Det. Insp. J.D.R. LEMIEUX, Criminal Investigation Branch, Orillia are actively investigating this case.
