(Mattawa, On)
Mattawa OPP is investigating a series of incidents in the Mattawa area over the past weekend.

On Saturday October 30th, 2004, shortly after 8:30 p.m., police attended a McMartin Road residence in Papineau-Cameron Township where a shed on the property sustained some minor damage. Some time prior to 8:00 p.m., persons unknown damaged the east wall of the shed with a blunt instrument. It would appear nothing is missing from the shed and it is unknown if someone entered the shed or not.

Later that evening, police were called to a local motel east of the town of Mattawa in Papineau-Cameron Township. Someone pulled the satellite cables out of the main junction box which supplies T.V. service to each room. It is unknown when this occurred, but it appears to be an on-going problem.

At 11:45 p.m., Saturday, police were alerted to damage to a building at 318 Main Street, Mattawa. Just prior to arrival, a vehicle backed into the wall of a garage, pushing it in slightly. The garage is attached to the building at 318 Main Street. Police are looking for a Ford Ranger pick-up truck that may be responsible for the damage.

Prior to midnight on Saturday, October 30th, police were dispatched to F.J. McElligott High School located on 370 Pine Street in Mattawa regarding a break and enter that just took place. A window located north of the west side entrance to the school was smashed. Once inside, culprits smashed a vending machine in the school and made off with some candy. Police also discovered a broken window to a classroom. It would appear that culprits threw a rock from the adjacent field. Three male culprits are involved and fled the scene prior to police arrival. One of the culprits was wearing a winter hat and beige coat. Police are continuing their investigation into this break-in.
