OPP hand out 138 speeding charges in North Bay area over the long weekend

The 'Big Four' includes impaired, aggressive, inattentive driving and the lack of seatbelt use

North Bay OPP wrapped up their participation in the Canada Road Safety Campaign as well as the long weekend Provincial Traffic Safety Program after focusing on the high risk behaviours known as the "Big Four" which include impaired, aggressive, inattentive driving and the lack of seatbelt use. 

As a result of the patrols completed the following provincial offences were issued in the North Bay detachment area:

  • 138 charges for speeding 
  • Three charges of fail to yield 
  • One charge of careless driving 
  • Three seatbelt charges 
  • One charge of street racing
  • Seven distracted driving charges
  • four charges related to impaired driving and
  • two charges of driving while prohibited
