Almaguin Highlands OPP officers played a major part in this years Canada wide "Operation Impact". With dedicated patrols along area roads this Thanksgiving weekend, we are thankful to report that no major injury or fatality collisions occurred within the Detachment area.

As part of this campaign, officers maintained a `zero tolerance', targeted enforcement approach towards drivers who were placing others at risk by their poor driving behaviours. Officers conducted multiple R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) programs throughout the area and extensively patrolled Almaguin Highlands roads looking for aggressive and distracted drivers as well as those who improperly or failed to use seatbelts.

During the campaign a total of 121 drivers who felt the "need to speed", were charged for doing so. 14 tickets were issued to drivers and passengers for failing to properly wear seatbelts.

Almaguin Highlands Officers also issued other citations under the Highway Traffic Act to motorist during their enforcement efforts.
