Open letter: Implementation of a vaccine passport would be discriminatory

To MPP Vic Fedeli:

I'm writing to you today to voice my absolute opposition to any implementation of a vaccine passport at the local, provincial or national level.

I'm a lifelong, documented allergic patient with a history of lowered/problematic immunity, as are some of my immediate family. We have managed the risks accordingly by following recommended health protocols.

Under my personal Charter Rights and Freedoms, and medical sovereignty, I've made the personal decision not to receive the COVID vaccine. There is now clear precedent and evidence that allergic reactions have occurred in other allergic/autoimmune compromised patients.

I do not wish to expose myself to further health complications or risks by taking what is fundamentally an experimental vaccine with barely a year or two of documented research, and proven complications in certain segments of the medical population, including my own.

As reported in the media, Ontario businesses and institutions are now in the midst of discriminating against, refusing entry, and denying freedom of movement to anyone without a vaccination, regardless of their medical status or history. This must be illegal. It increasingly appears that I could be denied entry into pharmacies, medical offices, grocery stores, small businesses, and other essential services that I require for simple, daily living if this trend continues.

I should not require a 'doctor's note' to maintain my Charter right of freedom of movement and access to the necessities of life. Please introduce some kind of legislation or clear warning that businesses and institutions cannot bar a segment of the medical population from accessing services and products.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Deryk Hagar
