The Capitol Centre feels it's blazed a new trail with the production of Streamathon 10-20-20, an online telethon, which was fully produced in-house and streamed live from the Betty Speers Theatre.

The three-hour event was hosted live on the Capitol Centre's Facebook page and presented both live and pre-recorded entertainment throughout the evening.

"Overall Facebook insights indicated that the online event reached 21,000 people of which 7,400 tuned into the Streamathon event," said Caroline Parnell-Barry, Marketing Director. "Those who tuned in were also very engaged with over 700 comments and 143 shares!."

The event raised $3,754 through online donations.

"We are thrilled with the level of engagement as well as the number of viewers who took in Streamathon 10-20-20." said Dan Misturada, Interim Executive Director, "Our team worked extremely hard to bring this amazing fundraising event to our community. Although we have a ways to go to recover the lost funds from our cancelled events, the support received was overwhelming and we gratefully appreciate all of the donations."

Streamathon 10-20-20 featured live performances by well-known local musicians including Northfacing Folk, Rose Erin Stokes, Jake Thomas, Josh Dimmel and headliner Cory Marks.

Marks treated viewers to a rousing performance that finished with the much-requested Outlaws and Outsiders song.

Pre-recorded entertainment featured music and dance performances from local talent including Dance Expressions, North Bay Rock Choir, French musicians on behalf of Les Compagnons, and North Bay's own Bagpipe Trio. The evening also featured a wide array of shoutouts from past performers and local supporters including Bruce Cockburn.

A recorded version of Streamathon 10-20-20 can still be viewed on the Capitol Centre's Facebook page. Donations are gratefully accepted anytime.
