One new COVID case today

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit update this afternoon shows one new Covid-19 case, bringing to 25 the number of active cases.

Of those, 20 are in Nipissing District and five are in the Parry Sound District.

The latest case is someone aged 20-39 who contracted the virus through close contact with a positive case. All are listed as isolating.

To date, there have been 239 cases and two people have died. A total of 212 cases have been resolved.

Twenty-two are listed as variants of concern with just one identified, that being a South African variant.

There are 33 cases related to the community outbreak at Lancelot Apartments. Twenty-seven are residents and six are visitors. Fifteen of those are still active,17 have been resolved and one person has died.

The district is still in lockdown, but a report out of Toronto says the future of York Region and North Bay, which also remain under a stay-home order, is expected tomorrow (Friday).

The Timiskaming Health Unit has no active cases.

The Sudbury Health Unit has 29 active cases.

The Simcoe-Muskoka Health Unit has 607 active cases.with 48 new ones today.
