Astorville's Briir Long, who some sources felt would go into the top five rounds of the OHL Draft, was selected by Brantford (Hamilton) Bulldogs in the 10th round,

The Bulldogs, who selected Trappers forward Masen Wray in the 3rd round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, have North Bay native Beau Moyer as part of their scouting staff.

"Long is a good skater who utilizes his feet to drive offence off the rush, he possesses a good shot and makes smart simple passes," one OHL scout told BayToday about Long's game.

"He moves the puck efficiently in transition and has a strong hockey IQ. I would describe him as a player who brings a consistent work ethic to each shift, and is always an offensive threat when he's on the ice."

The 5'9', 137-pound forward played in 26 games in the high profile league where netted 10 goals and 21 assists totalling 31 points.

"I'm very excited and very honoured to be a part of this great organization," Long told BayToday.

Meantime, Sturgeon Falls product Andre Mondoux, a big defenceman, was selected in the 11th round by the Kingston Frontenacs.

Mondoux and Long both played for the NOHA champion U15 AAA Trappers team but opted to go to the Toronto area to play their OHL draft year. Long played with the Mississauga U16 AAA Senators while Mondoux competed for the Toronto U16 AAA Titans.

Mondoux, a 6'2:, 205 pound blueliner had 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points in 31 games with the Titans competing in the GTHL.

Meantime Ryan Daze, who also played on the U15 Trappers NOHA championship team, was selected by the North Bay Battalion in the 14th round. The 5'10", 158 pound forward netted 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points in 27 games with the Mississauga Senators as a teammate of Briir Long this season.

No current members of the North Bay U16 AAA Trappers were selected.
