When police saw someone they believed was in a "highly intoxicated state" outside a Main St. bar early Saturday night, they decided to take a look.

It was shortly after 2 a.m. and police placed the man under arrest for failing to identify himself under the Liquor Licence Act.

While at the police cruiser, the man resisted arrest and assaulted the police officers. Police say the man also threatened them while he was being taken to police headquarters.

Bernard Joseph Gagnon, age 27, of North Bay is charged with:
  • One count of assault peace officer;
  • One count of assault with intent to resist arrest;
  • One count of utter threats; and
  • Two counts of breach of probation.

Gagnon was held in custody for bail.
