Northgate Shopping Centre gave a big cheque to help out the North Bay Food Bank.

On Friday, mall officials handed over $2,000 in Northgate gift cards for use as Walmart to Debbie Marson in support of the North Bay Food Bank.

"It’s extremely important that we support those in need in our community," said Jordanna Grant, marketing director with Northgate Shopping Centre.

"We were in the midst of planning a fundraising event with some of our community partners in support of the Food Bank and sadly that needed to be put on hold.  It was important for us to act quickly and do anything we could to help give such desperate times."

Marson told BayToday last week that she was concerned about support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We need to look out for each other and our community does that for us at the Food Bank - we do feel we do have community support," said Marson, the executive director of the North Bay Food Bank.

The Food Bank also announced Monday morning that they will be allowing only one client at a time to receive service at the North Bay Food Bank.
