No new fires have been confirmed yet today in the Northeast Region.

Four new fires were confirmed July 7th in the region in the areas of Bancroft, Wawa and Pembroke.


-Bancroft 16 was a 0.1 hectare fire north of Frontenac that was responded to by Helitak. The fire is now Out. Bancroft 17 was also a 0.1 hectare fire. The fire, in the Little Margaret Lake area is now Out.


-Wawa 22, east of Manitowadge is 0.5 hectares in size. Air attack as well as Helitak were dispatched to this fire that is now classed as Being Held.


-Pembroke 15 was confirmed in the Big Limestone Lake area. Two crews remain committed to the fire, which is currently Being Held at 2 hectares.



As the hazard is high across the region and continues to build, a reminder to the public to use extreme care and caution in all outdoor activities during this high hazard time.
Make sure you have adequate resources when considering the use of a campfire, and ensure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving.


Many municipalities in the region have imposed fire bans. It is important to check with your local municipality before burning to ensure there are no fire bans in place.





There are currently 18 fires in the Northeast Region, burning 48116.5 hectares.



To date, there have been 349 fires in the Northeast Region, having burnt 49670.3 hectares.
