Portions of the North end of North Bay have been without power since around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning, but it appears power is back on less than two hours after the outage was first reported.

North Bay Hydro finally updated the public via Facebook and Twitter until around 1:10 p.m. today.

"Power Outage to North West end of town. Large mature tree on the bulk supply lines on Cedar Heights. Crews on site removing tree," North Bay Hydro stated via Twitter.

City Councillor Mike Anthony went to social media to try and update the public.

"They are swamped with calls & crews are already at work to fix the problem as soon as possible," stated Anthony who did connect with North Bay Hydro.

"It appears a larg chunk of North Bay is without power. Cause is still uncertain, but high winds certainly may have been a cause. Parts of Algonquin, all the way up to Thibeault Terrace and all of McKeown are down. Reports also from other side near Ski Club, Dane street area as well."

Reports were that power was restored around 1:30 p.m. to many of the customers but North Bay Hydro stated power was restored to all customers at 1:52 p.m.
