North Bay women dominate McDonald’s Secret Secret Menu Challenge!

McDonald’s crew and managers were challenged to go recipe-to-recipe to create the ultimate $10,000-worthy breakfast or dessert

Three local McDonald’s employees are "lovin' it" after becoming semi-finalists in a company contest to create their own menu item.

After searching far and wide across the province, and hundreds of submissions,  McDonald's picked the semi-finalists, and three out of the eight came from right here in North Bay.

Gabrielle Girard, Lyn Vaillancourt and Johanne Vincent beat out employees from across Ontario with their flavour expertise.

In Ontario, McDonald’s crew and managers were challenged to go recipe-to-recipe to create the ultimate $10,000-worthy breakfast or dessert. The final eight participants were brought to the McDonald’s head office in Toronto for the final showdown. The winner was Amanda Miller from the Orangeville McDonald's with her parfait called McBerry.

Brad Haines, North Bay franchisee was thrilled to hear that three of the eight semi-finalists came from his restaurant team. “We have fun with it."

Gabrielle Girard, from the Northgate Walmart McDonald's  won 2nd place, taking home $5,000 for her “Cookie Monster” menu item, while Lyn Vaillancourt and Johanne Vincent both received honorary mentions for the “Magic Moments French Toast” and the “McCristo”.

The management team at the Lakeshore, McKeown and Walmart locations hosted internal contests, giving crew feedback and tips on how to best market their menu items.

John Betts, McDonald’s CEO, was on the panel of judges that included executives, foodies and honoured guests to pick the winning recipe.
