North Bay woman charged in Timmins attempted murder, man also arrested.

Investigation has resulted in the second suspect being identified as a local male resident of Schumacher. He was located and arrested yesterday evening by the Timmins Police Service

Timmins police arrested a North Bay woman last month, and yesterday a Timmins man, in connection with the attempted murder of a 44-year-old Timmins man who suffered serious injuries in a fight involving an edged weapon.

The incident occurred in an Elm Street South apartment during the evening of Friday, June 21. 

The victim was taken to TimminsHospital for treatment of significant injuries say police who completed a comprehensive crime scene investigation which included officers from the Criminal Investigation Division as well as the Forensic Identifications Section.

An arrest warrant was obtained by the Timmins Police Service in the name of the female suspect who was located and arrested on the evening of June 26 in South Porcupine.

Samantha Kitler, 30, of North Bay  is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder,
  • Aggravated assault,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Uttering threats, and
  • Failing to comply with a recognizance order.

The accused remains in police custody, having had a bail hearing, and currently has a future court date of Sept. 13 in Timmins.

The investigation resulted in a second suspect being identified as a male resident of Schumacher. He was arrested yesterday evening by the Timmins police.

As a result of this recent development, Zachary Hansen, 32, of Schumacher, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder,
  • Aggravated assault,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
  • Uttering threats.

Hansen mains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
