For the second spring in a row the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame has cancelled its annual banquet due to COVID-19 concerns.

"After careful consideration of the ongoing health concerns, timing of vaccines, and the stay at home order, the Board of Directors of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame has made the decision to cancel the 40th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner," said Bill Jacko, Chair of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame Committee.

The Board will be planning for the Hall of Fame dinner in 2022. Officials were hoping to reschedule the postponed 2020 ceremony to May 1, 2021.

Long-time NHL official Stephen Walkom, triathlete Len Gushe, figure skating builder Sue Fisher and curling official Claude Peloquin were to be formally inducted in 2020.

Jacko says these four outstanding individuals will be formally inducted in 2022.

“It is unfortunate we have to delay these inductions until 2022, but it is the right thing to do so as not to put at risk the health of the inductees, their families, friends and the employees of the Davedi Club”, noted Jacko.

The Board members of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame urge everyone to stay safe and follow the guidelines as set out by the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit.

The Board also looks forward to a sold out event in 2022.
