The North Bay Science Festival will be returning for another year.

This will be the third year for the event which will take place from October 21 to 26.

Lora Clausen, North Bay Science Festival Chair, says the event is an important tool to help people of all ages to become interested in science.

“Bringing the festivals to each individual community is really important because there is already a lot of great science that happens in these communities that people within the community do not necessarily know about and it helps to have this partnership which helps bring that to light and it really helps to engage the people within the community to know what is happening in their own neighbourhoods,” said Clausen.

Clausen says the week-long event will highlight science and technology through a number of events including the Science Olympics and a new Climate Action Panel.

“We have definitely increased the variety of the events that we have and bringing more science to the festival. So we have added the climate action panel, which is an important subject to discuss, and bringing it to light in a way for elementary school students that will be more helpful to them and engaging them in that and what are the actions that they can take,” she said.

The partners kicked off the event at Nipissing University on Friday morning.

The third annual event involves Science North along with seven other local organizations including the City of North Bay, Nipissing University, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, First Robotics League Team 1305, the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce, Ignite North Bay and Safesight Exploration.
