OPP News Release

This Thanksgiving Weekend can be summed up as a success from a Highway Safety perspective.
The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were out in full force and high visibility and along with driver care, has led to a fatality free weekend on our area highways, trails and waterways.
The detachment members laid 145 speeding charges, as well as 27 moving violation charges including Distracted Driving. There were 5 reported collisions in the area, with only 1 of them reporting one person being injured, however their injuries are not life threatening.
There were 11 hours of R.I.D.E. conducted, with no impaired driving arrests and only one (1) 3 day suspension for registering a warn on a Roadside Screening Device. It appears the message was received, and our motorists responded, thank you.
