The local Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a number of election-related events according to a news release issued today.

North Bay mayoral and council candidates can participate in a "meet and greet" evening.  This should allow voters the opportunity to speak one-on-one with council hopefuls.

That event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, at The Grande Event Centre from 6 to 8 p.m. No councillor's debate is scheduled.

Also, mayoral candidates can participate in a two-hour live debate on Thursday, October 4, on  YourTV.

Many of the Mayoral candidates in the region have been acclaimed, however, the townships of Bonfield, Calvin, and Papineau-Cameron have mayoral races.  The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce is organizing debates in those areas as well. Dates and locations will be announced soon.

As for other council candidates in the region, the Chamber will be asking candidates to submit profiles and platforms that will be published online for voters to view.

Election day is Monday, October 22
