North Bay man charged in home invasion

Also charged with cruelty to animals - unnecessary pain, suffering or injury

A North Bay man is in custody after a home invasion near Kirkland Lake.

On June 6, Kirkland Lake OPP officers, the North East Region OPP Crime Unit and the North East Region OPP Forensic Identification Services, responded to a home invasion on Georgina Street in Matachewan, southwest of Kirkland Lake, where the occupant was assaulted by two people.  

The victim sustained serious non-life threatening injuries as a result of the attack and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.   

As a result of the investigation, police have charged two people.  

Louis Roy, 33, of North Bay, and Edgar Mohr, 39, of Cambridge, were charged with:  

  • Break, enter a place, commit an indictable offence, 
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, 
  • Intimidation, 
  • Mischief under $5,000, and
  • Cruelty to animals - unnecessary pain, suffering or injury.

Both were remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
