A North Bay man faces numerous charges following an attempt to steal medical marijuana from a facility in Simcoe South.

Just after midnight this morning, South Simcoe Police were called to a break and enter in progress at a business authorized by Health Canada to produce medicinal marijuana.

Police say an employee inside the building was watching security cameras when he spotted five men trying to break into the building.

The employee scared the would-be thieves off, but his excellent description of the getaway vehicle led responding officers to arrest the group nearby.

Five men have been charged with:

  • break and enter,
  • possession of a prohibited weapon,
  • possession of break-in tools and
  • disguise with intent.

The men were held in custody for a bail hearing in Barrie today.
Charged are:

  • Kyle Hristovski, 29 years old of North Bay,
  • Joshua Scharb, 37 years old of Barrie,
  • Daryl Verner, 33 years old of Shelburne,
  • William Lackay, 31 years old of Jarratt, ON
  • Richard Carver, 32 years old of Barrie.

Carver was also charged with possession of a weapon while prohibited.
South Simcoe Police say they will not be releasing the location of the attempted robbery but Village Media has learned the attempted break-in was at a Cookstown medical pot facility.
