DL Auto on Lakeshore Drive has had its registration revoked.

The registration of DL Auto Brokers on Lakeshore Drive has been revoked according to OMVIC.

The organization administers and enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA) on behalf of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.

OMVIC says in a news release that DL did not appeal the immediate suspension order or Proposal to Revoke Registration issued by the regulator in July. As a result, DL Auto Brokers and its operators, Darrel Legare and Andrea St. Amant, cannot legally sell, lease, buy or consign vehicles.

The suspension order and proposal were issued on July 18th after consumer complaints and an OMVIC inspection alleged the North Bay dealer failed to remove liens from at least two vehicles traded in and from two vehicles sold, leaving consumers potentially responsible for the debts.

OMVIC encourages consumers who may have previously purchased from DL Auto Brokers to ensure their vehicles do not have unexpected liens and that liens on vehicles traded in have been removed. This information can be found by consulting a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP), available from ServiceOntario or on a CarProof Vehicle History Report.

Consumers with questions or concerns should contact OMVIC’s Complaints and Inquiries Team at 1-800- 942-6002x3942.

Ontario’s Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA) requires all dealers and salespeople be registered with OMVIC. A dealer or salesperson whose registration is refused, revoked or refused renewal cannot reapply for registration unless both of the following conditions are met:

  • Two years have passed since the refusal, revocation, or refusal to renew
  • New or other evidence is available or it is clear that material circumstances have changed
