All Heart Pet Rescue in its 17th year has seen many things that have had to do wiht animals from tossing a dog out of a moving truck, kittens left in boxes in snow banks, to dogs tied to the pet rescue gate ... but Owner and Animal Control Officer Kathy Jeanneault says this is the first time she's seen anything like this.

"A dog that had his ears cut off with scissors!"

"The owner, who we will call 'Joe', was a minority in a small Northern Ontario town and he wanted his dog to intimidate people with his look."

"How on earth do you do that with a black lab mix who we will 'Vinnie'."

Jeanneault says Joe took it upon himself to cut off both of the dogs ears with scissors and without anesthetic.

"It must have taken a long time to stop the bleeding," says Jeanneault.

"Because if a dog gets even a little nip on its ear from another dog while playing it takes hours for the bleeding to stop."

Needless to say that 'Joe' no longer has his dog as good samaritians took 'Vinnie' in and brought him to Powassan from the North.

"We recently had Vinnie neutered, he is a very sweet and loving dog despite everything he's been through. His neuter scar is healed and his ear flaps although completely gone are healed."

Vinnie needs a home that will look past his imperfections.

"No dog should have to go through what he has gone through," Jeanneault says.

"The right home will come around for him, they always do."
