NipU unveils 2009 official hockey team jerseys

Excitement filled the air at Memorial Gardens this afternoon as the Nipissing University Lakers Men’s Hockey team unveiled the official team jerseys.

NUSU President Marianne den Haan and North Bay and Area Chamber of Commerce President Sean Lawlor had the pleasure of modeling the new gear for Students, staff and the community.

The Nipissing University Lakers men’s hockey team are not only the newest team in Ontario University Athletics hockey, they are also the best dressed.

The Lakers unveiled their home and away jerseys during a short media conference at Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 16.

“The visual identity of a hockey team is significant,” said Vito Castiglione, manager sports and recreation at Nipissing. “We wanted a jersey that would look good while underlining key characteristics like speed and strength. It was also very important that these jerseys represent Nipissing University, so we have used the existing colour scheme, blue and green, and have Nipissing and Lakers featured prominently.”

Jerseys will be available for sale in the near future.

Season tickets for the Lakers’ inaugural season are now on sale. Ticket prices are as follows: For season tickets, the cost is $176 for adults, $120 for students and seniors, and $88 for children 12 and under (GST included). That includes all exhibition and regular season games. Season tickets holders who purchase tickets before July 31 will receive a special opening night replica jersey, worth $79.95.

Game tickets will cost $11 for adults, $7.50 for students and seniors, and $5.50 for children 12 and under (GST included).

Season tickets can be purchased at the Memorial Garden’s box office at 100 Chippewa Street.
