Nipissing is pleased to welcome Richard Onley to the university as vice-president, finance and administration. His five-year term began on September 12, 2012.

Onley was appointed to the position by the search committee for the vice-president, finance and administration following a three month search.

He brings over 25 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant working successfully in private practice with a diverse group of public and private corporations and many not-for-profit organizations. Onley began his career at the international firm of Deloitte Chartered Accountants and subsequently worked as the director of financial planning, reporting and administration for Scott’s Food Service before starting his own regional practice. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trent University and a Chartered Accountancy designation from the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants.

As a member of Nipissing University’s Board of Governors since 2011, Onley also brings familiarity with the opportunities and challenges specific to Nipissing and the university sector.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Richard to Nipissing. He brings a wealth of financial management and government relations expertise to our team and is very familiar with the economic context and fabric of Northeastern Ontario,” said Vicky Paine-Mantha, Nipissing’s interim president and vice-chancellor. “His sound financial acumen and his understanding of the importance of collaborative partnerships will help Nipissing succeed.”

“I’m very excited to be coming to Nipissing as part of the executive team to help guide this university as it continues to evolve,” said Onley. “There is a terrific culture of learning that exists here, where engaging students and enriching their post-secondary experience are the top priorities. Nipissing has the potential to accomplish a great deal in the coming years and I look forward to helping it reach its goals.
