Dan Wemigwans, a bachelor of business administration student acted as emcee with

Faculty to Education professor John Long presented ‘A Cree at the Battle of Normandy’, a piece on the late Private Fred Moore, a Moose Factory Cree veteran who served in the Second World War.

Gerald Chum and Robin Antone the Lightning Drum Singers performed a Memorial Song Lightning, and university president Dennis Mock along with NUSU president Kyle Marsh spoke to the sacrifices and contributions Canadians made during the World War conflicts. They spoke to the sacrifices of the current conflict and the contributions made by Canada’s Aboriginal people to keep Canada safe.

A reception followed the event.
