Nipissing students' Relay for Life 'amazing work' raises $24k

'Last year, we were able to crush our goal by roughly $3,000, and this year we are almost over by $5,000'

The Nipissing University Relay for Life Club is celebrating 15 years of raising money for cancer research and his year they raised an impressive $24,215.

"I couldn't be more proud of our committee this year," said Sav Searle, Relay Co-Captain. "They've done some amazing work and it has been fantastic to see it pay off"."

Each year, teams walk a track overnight and participate in various fun events, as well as a few key ceremonies to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer. This was the first full-scale event in a couple of years.

"Last year, we were able to crush our goal by roughly $3,000, and this year we are almost over by $5,000. The Nipissing Lakers family truly surprises us in the best way each year," said Searle.

Over the past 14 years, the club has raised more than $200,000 for the Canadian Cancer society.
