The North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, in an update Sunday says Lake Nipissing levels remained stable, with an average water level at 196.45m.

In the North Bay area, the gauge read 196.46m, whereas the gauge at the French River outlet on the Lake read 196.44m.

The winds are shifting, coming from the north-west, which will cause an increase in local water levels around North Bay. Based on trends over the last two days, the inflows have shown a marked drop resulting in a slight decline in water levels.

Inflows have begun to trend downward, vegetation likely playing a large part in the absorption.

Given the current Lake outflows, the Lake level is forecasted to remain relatively stable over the next several days, and then may begin to slowly decline again.

On Lake Nipissing, boaters are being urged to stay away from shorelines and flood-affected areas so that vessel movements do not pose a risk to the safety of individuals or cause damage to the environment, properties, and infrastructure.
