Scotiabank brings the greatest game on ice to North Bay, giving you opportunities to meet some of the most renowned hockey players of all time! No one should miss this unique chance to shake the hand of hockey hall of famers, and Stanley cup winners. This exciting and entertaining game will feature players from such hockey legend teams as Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks and many more. They are not only here to challenge members of the local Law Enforcement All Stars team to the on-ice hockey game of their lives but to raise money for Ontario Special Olympics with the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

“We are very excited to showcase an exhibition game with North Bay’s local heroes from the Law Enforcement All Star team” said Mark Napier, Executive Director, NHL Alumni. “We cherish the chance to get together as Alumni to play with old friends and promote the game of hockey across Ontario, all while raising money for a great cause.”

This entertaining game for the whole family includes an exciting skills competition, hilarious on-ice gags and some of the most highly profiled former players in the NHL. This always sold out event, which takes place on Wednesday October 27th, 2010, at 7pm at the North Bay Memorial Gardens Sports Arena. Scotiabank is proud to provide exciting experiences like the NHL Alumni Tour for hockey fans in our community. As Canada's Hockey Bank, we've seen first hand the love that Canadians have for this game, and through this Tour we are able to support an event that raises much needed funding and awareness for children with physical and mental disabilities. All funds raised through Torch Run events are aimed at programs that directly support and affect all community-based Special Olympics activities. Funds are channeled into community programs, assisting with a variety of expenses including games travel, accommodation, meals, staff support, grants to new community programs, athlete training, public education, volunteer/coach training and development initiatives like school programs (which opens up opportunities to new younger athletes).

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run (www.ontario.torchrun.org) is a community based, province-wide event that sees the "Flame of Hope" being carried right across Ontario by members of the Law Enforcement from communities right across the province. The objective of this and other events is to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics movement in Ontario. The NHL Alumni (www.nhlalumni.net) is a non-profit organization, which serves as a liaison for 28 local alumni groups. The Association has adopted the motto of "Hockey's Greatest Family", providing programs and assistance for all retired NHL players, including career transition with the Life After Hockey Program.
