We'll know soon if North Bay is in line for its first pot store.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli told CKAT that the government will be announcing details in the near future on the where the next round of cannabis stores will be located.

He says the government took a "measured approach" at first by going online only but now has 20 stores open.

"We're doing very well. We got our first reports on how they're progressing but the shortage of product is still the largest stumbling block."

He says lack of supply of cannabis has been a big concern and he puts the blame at Ottawa's door.

"I continue to push the federal government to open more licensing for their licensed producers because there is simply not enough supply," he says. " I think the federal government really did bungle this by legalizing marijuana and not having the supply."

Both northern pot retailers are located in Sudbury.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission has published an interactive map that shows the location and the status of cannabis retail stores in Ontario.

It's estimated stores that have already opened are doing over a million dollars a month in sales.
