New Superintendent for NNDSB

The Near North District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Bocking as Superintendent of Schools and Program. Mr. Bocking, currently principal with the Lakehead District School Board, will join the senior administration team as of February 1, 2007. Superintendent Bocking will provide supervision to secondary schools and several elementary schools including schools offering French Immersion programs. In addition his portfolio will include Special Education, Aboriginal Education, School Operations and Managing Information for Student Achievement.

Mr. Bocking has Master of Education degree in Education Administration and a Bachelor of Education degree with qualifications in Geography and French. He holds a B. Sc. in Geography and Biology. In addition, Mr. Bocking has completed course work in French at Concordia University as well as a Diploma in Forest Technology.
Superintendent Bocking has leadership experience at both the school and system level. Administrative experience includes special education, the education of aboriginal students, 'lead' principal for mathematics instruction, school improvement and district planning. Currently, Mr. Bocking is co-president and provincial councillor for the Ontario Principals’ Council at Lakehead. He led the implementation of the “balanced school day” for Lakehead DSB elementary schools.

Mr. Bocking is looking forward to relocating with his family to the Near North area. They enjoy sailing, kayaking, skiing, backpacking and travel.
