George Onley, Executive Vice-President of the Nipissing-Timiskaming Federal Liberal Association today announced that Serge Hamel, a long time Liberal and a lawyer from Timiskaming Shores, has been appointed as the President of the Nipissing-Timiskaming Federal Liberal Association.

“As was outlined earlier, a motion was circulated by email and phone to every current Executive member outlining the process for appointing the replacement,” Onley said.

“As a result, Serge Hamel has been overwhelmingly approved by the Executive as the President,” Onley concluded.

Serge Hamel is a lawyer who was born and raised in the town of New Liskeard, which is now part of the community of Temiskaming Shores.

He is married, has two sons, and has been interested and involved in the local political scene for many years. Serge is currently the Treasurer of the Timiskaming-Cochrane Provincial Liberal Association and was the Chief Financial Officer for the most recent David Ramsay campaign.

Mr. Hamel is also the current treasurer of the Temiskaming Law Association.
