New President for Quonta Drama Region

The North Eastern Ontario Theatre community is pleased to announce the appointment of its new board president, local actor/producer Rex Hiscock.

“I am very happy, it has been some time since the president of Quonta has been from North Bay," said Hiscock, “and I have been working a long 10 years to get to this position, and I think it will be good for community theatre in North Bay”

Quonta, which stands for The Quebec Ontario Theatre Association, has been supporting community theatre for over 50 years. Each year during the Quonta Drama Festival, community theatre groups from the north east gather in one of the member cities (North Bay, Espanola, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Elliot Lake and Timmins) to showcase the talent of the region and also vie for the title of “Best Production” and the right to move on and compete at the Theatre Ontario Festival level.

“This year’s Quonta Festival will be fabulous, and we will be announcing the host city soon,” stated Hiscock .
