The Nipissing Lakers have added another member of the defensive corps today with the commitment to Calgary native Emma Neff.

Neff is the fifth player of the season to commit to the Lakers this off-season.

"We are very excited to add a player with Emma's skillset this late in the recruiting game," said Turcotte.

"She's a good skater, that plays physical, according to the people that we speak with out in Western Canada, she was one of the most improved players over the course of the past hockey season."

Last season Neff played for the Calgary Fire of the AFHL, where she netted three goals and five assists for eight points in 28 games last season.

Turcotte says Neff was initially committed to join the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns this fall, however, the Alberta school's program was shut down this offseason.

Neff is excited about the new opportunity as she believes the community and the school have a small town appeal with a close-knit community and a strong hockey program.

"I am looking forward to being a key contributor as part of a team committed to winning a championship," she said in a Lakers release.
