The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (“Health Unit”) will be ready to serve the public at 345 Oak Street West starting Monday, May 14, 2018. As of next week, the Health Unit building at 681 Commercial Street will be closed.

The New North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit building will be opening officially to the public today.

The $20 million facility is located at 345 Oak Street West.   The current location at 681 Commercial Street will be closed.

“Our new Health Unit was designed with the public in mind – their needs, well-being and health,” says Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health in a release.

“The new space will allow us to improve our service delivery to our clients in North Bay, as well as to those in the surrounding communities in our districts.”

The new Health Unit is located closer to the downtown core as well as all bus routes. This new location will allow clients to access the Health Unit and its services more easily, and better connect with the public and community partners. Having all programs and services in one location will allow us to better serve our clients.

The Health Unit officials believe the new building, which is close to all bus routes, as well as bike and walking paths, includes more workspace, more public parking, and a central location to serve the community.  The new building has a family room, and the option of gendered or all-gender washrooms, and barrier-free washrooms.

New facilities such as a teaching kitchen will be utilized for educational programming for the public and community partners. New services, such as the adult dental clinic for eligible clients with limited or no access to dental care, will be available.

For more information on the new building or to find out more about Health Unit services, visit www.myhealthunit.ca/345Oak or call 1-800-563-2808.
