The Board of Trustees of the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) has announced the appointment of Paula Mann as Director of Education and Secretary of the Board, effective May 3.

She replaces Anna Marie Bitonti, who in December 2021 announced her upcoming retirement.

A graduate of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, Paula Mann obtained both a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from Nipissing University.

"She began her teaching career with NPSC in 1998, and has experienced a high level of success in her roles as Teacher, Principal, Senior Education Official and Superintendent of Education, a role she has held since 2010," says a news release.

"Throughout her years as a Catholic senior administrator, Ms. Mann has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence in her various portfolios, some of which include: Safe Schools, Student Success, Early Learning, Learning through Technology, Indigenous Education, Special Education, Program and Curriculum, and Labour Relations. She has also served on local, regional and provincial committees and has served as a mentor with the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers’ Association for newly appointed senior leaders," according to the release.

“We have every confidence that Paula will be a strong progressive leader who will continue the board’s tradition of focusing on the student experience in the inclusive and welcoming environment found within our Catholic schools,” says board Chair, Leo de Jourdan. “Her experience as a teacher, principal and member of the senior administration team has prepared her well for her new role."

“I am incredibly humbled and honoured to serve our Board of Trustees, students, parents, staff and community partners in the role of Director of Education at NPSC”, says Paula Mann.  “I look forward to working with our Board of Trustees, our senior team and our staff to realize our strategic ends and continue to nurture a high quality, inclusive and innovative Catholic education to support our students in reaching their full potential. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to build on the solid foundation of student success and well-being that has been established over the years by our current leadership team."
