New Detachment Commander of West Nipissing OPP Detachment named

OPP North East Region announced that Inspector Michael Maville, is the new Detachment Commander of the Nipissing West OPP Detachment effective immediately. 

Inspector Maville began his career with the OPP in January 2002, and was posted to the Chapleau Detachment. In October 2006, Inspector Maville transferred to the Thessalon Detachment where he became a Detective Constable. He joined the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (North Bay Drug Enforcement Unit) in 2008. 

In July 2012, Maville was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the North Bay Provincial Communications Centre.   

In May 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and appointed as the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment Commander.  

A career highlight for Inspector Maville was in 2017 when he was one of only five Canadians awarded with the "40 Under 40" Award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. This award program is designed to recognize individuals in law enforcement under the age of 40 who demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to the profession.
