"Helping sick and abandoned animals has never been easier or sweeter."

That’s the motto of the North Bay and District Humane Society National Cupcake Day fundraiser. It hopes to bring in over $10,000 to help area animals through the sales of cupcakes and treats from local vendors and home bakers.

National Cupcake Day officially launches tomorrow with an in-store event at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer but customers can begin pre-ordering treats for family, friends, and co-workers early by visiting nbdhs.ca/cupcakes.

Local partners for this year’s event include Parker’s Your Independent Grocer, Orchards Fresh Food Market, Chez Jean-Marc Bakery (Sturgeon Falls) and Vegan Dad Bakery.

Supporters have the choice of buying a variety of treats - including chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, and cookies n’ cream cupcakes and assorted donuts - with all proceeds benefiting Humane Society programs including adoptions, low-cost spay and neuters, and animal transfers.

Each year the Society helps more than 1,500 cats and dogs find homes.
