A well known music store that has been owned locally since 1964 will be changing hands before the end of the month.

Music City which opened in 1964 and has been owned by the Perreault family since 1997, has been sold to Long & McQuade Musical Instruments.

Long & McQuade, based out of Toronto, has more than 60 locations across the country.

According to store officials, the staff is expected to remain status quo at the downtown North Bay location.

According to its website, "Music City opened in 1964 as a small, family-owned and operated full-line musical instrument store.  At its first location on Cassells St. in downtown North Bay, Music City served all musicians from North Bay and area, offering sales, lessons, repair, and rentals.  In 1997, the store was purchased by husband-and-wife team Roger and Reva Perreault, who continued the tradition of Music City’s family-owned and run heritage. One year later, the Perreaults expanded the store and moved it to its current location in the old St. Regis Hotel on Algonquin Ave.

"The late 00′s marked yet another change in the history of Music City as Roger and Reva have handed over the reins to their son Mike and his wife Renee."
