North Bay police say they have re-arrested a suspect in a January 1 murder for breaking his release order.

At 4 o'clock this afternoon officers arrested and charged Ghislain Nsengiyumva with "Breach of Release Order"  just a few hours after he was released by a judge from the North Bay Courthouse on bail today.

Back on January 2, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged Nsengiyumva with:

  • Second-degree murder
  • Utter threat to cause death
  •  Assault with a weapon
  • Two counts of assault

Police say after his release, Nsengiyumva violated his bail conditions and was later re-arrested on the breach of a release order

Nsengiyumva will be held in custody pending another bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.

Police did not say what the breach entailed.

It was shortly after 2:30 a.m. New Year's morning that North Bay Police and Nipissing Paramedic Services responded to the 1100 block of Jane Street regarding a person in need of medical help.

Police found the victim on the side of Jane Street, next to a snowbank. He was rushed by ambulance to the North Bay Regional Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.

Police said at the time that an argument turned violent when a man assaulted two adult females then left a party at a Gormanville St. home. Gormanville intersects Jane St.
