Update: stabbing, Multiple victims injured in assault with a weapon

Police say this was a targeted attack

Update 3 p.m.

Police are confirming that there were two victims who suffered non-life threatening injuries caused by puncture wounds. One victim has been released from the hospital and the other remains in hospital in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing.

Police say further updates will be released tomorrow morning via a media release.

City police are investigating a report this morning of a man requiring medical assistance at 448 McIntyre St. E. after an assault with a weapon.

According to Sgt. Jody DeHaas, the incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. 

Police have now "entered into an investigation involving injuries to multiple persons," she says. There are no fatalities.

The North Bay Forensic Identification Unit is assisting the Criminal Investigation Section in this continuing investigation resulting in increased police presence in the downtown area of the city.

Police say this was a targeted attack and there is no threat to public safety.
