On November 3, at 11:15 p.m., North Bay OPP investigated a dispute in Chisholm Township. When officers arrived, they found that the suspect had driven away.
Officers found the vehicle on Memorial Park Drive in Chisholm and officers began an investigation. The driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.
James Deroche, 43, of Chisholm, is charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Possession of a schedule III substance
- Drive a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Have care or control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Driver failed to surrender license
Deroche was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on November 26.
He was also was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
These charges mark 54 drivers charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the North Bay Detachment area in 2019. In 2018, North Bay OPP charged 49 drivers.
