Multiple charges after drug raid

An OPP drug raid Sunday July 23, in Papineau-Cameron Township led to a number of charges against a Mattawa couple.

As a result of the search warrant, Shawn Joseph Miller, 44, of Mattawa was arrested and charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3);
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - under 3kg (x2);
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and with
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order

Miller was held in custody and will return to court in North Bay tomorrow.

Julie Valois, 37, of Mattawa was also arrested and charged as a result of the search warrant with following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3);
  • Possessions of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - under 3kg (x2);
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and with
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

Valois was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend court in Mattawa on September 20.

The CSCU was assisted by members of the OPP's Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), North Bay Crime Unit, Canine and the Mattawa OPP Detachment members.
