Monsignor John Caswell passes

He affected the lives of many in northern Ontario and was a very significant priest, a man raised and who served in North Bay.
 
Msgr. John Caswell died Sunday, July 1 at Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury.
 
Among his many huge contributions was launching and producing the ‘Mass for Shut-Ins’ TV series.
 
According to his obituary, he was born in Smiths Falls and raised in his beloved North Bay.

Msgr. Caswell studied at St. Michael’s College in Toronto and St. Peter’s Seminary in London. He was ordained on May 19th, 1962 in the Pro Cathedral in North Bay. His ministry began as an assistant at Precious Blood Church in Sault Ste. Marie.

Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church, 30 Beech St. Sudbury Friday, July 6, at 10 a.m.
 
(Friends may call at the church 2-5, 7-9 pm Thursday, with prayers at 7:30 pm)
 
Interment in the Priest’s Plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Bay
