The Weather Network has released its 2016 Winter forecast and according to the nation’s weather forecaster they anticipate overall “Canadians will see fewer bouts of severe cold weather.”

Weather Network Chief meteorologist Chris Scott says as El Nino strengthens, it will bring above normal temperatures to southern Canada in the early winter.

However, the Weather Network anticipates that Northern Ontario will see more classic winter at times.

The Weather Network states while the winter will feature above seasonal temperatures, the pattern will break down at times and they stress it is important to keep in mind that impactful weather can occur even with temperatures that are several degrees above seasonal.

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting December average temperature to be around -5 degrees celsius, which is 1 degree below average.

The Almanac follows up in January expecting an average temperature of -12 degrees celsius which is 3 degrees below average.
