The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has received an extension from the city to continue mass vaccinations until late August.

The Health Unit confirmed that information during last Thursday's online media conference.

"We have negotiated an extension at Memorial Gardens until later in August, or at the end of August," Andrea McLellan, Director of COVID-19 Immunization Strategy.

"We continue to do some site visits to determine alternative venues for our vaccination clinics to move to and we have some promising sites but I cannot at this point and time, share this information."

The Health Unit has stated earlier this spring that they were still on the lookout for a new mass vaccination area. Initially it was scheduled to be used until the end of July, prior to the extension.

The North Bay Battalion, the major tenant at Memorial Gardens, is not expected to start its training camp until  September.
