Al McDonald has clearly identified his main threat in this election...and it's Gary Gardiner.

In a stinging news release today, he accuses Gardiner of lying and of having a hidden agenda and uses the same phrase "tax payer association friends" six times in a 400-word release.

“Gary Gardiner lied to voters about water bills, lied to voters about the Gardens, lied to voters about the standpipe for Cedar Heights and has offered no vision for our community.” said McDonald. “Gary Gardiner and his tax payers association friends have no plans for growing North Bay and no idea how to attract development. All they want to do is cut.”

McDonald's other rivals, Sheldon Forgette and Will Boissoin are not mentioned.

The release is in sharp contrast to previous ones where McDonald had focused on his vision for the city.

This time he accuses Gardiner of "the worst kind of politics” by knowingly saying things "that are untrue to frighten seniors."

“For four years, Gary Gardiner and his tax payer association friends said they had all the answers," continues McDonald. "The Tax Payers Association made things up, accused staff and council of being corrupt and were nothing but negative.”

McDonald says his platform is designed to increase investment and development and to grow the city and to grow the tax base, but slams Gardiner's platform.

“Gary Gardiner and his taxpayer association friends have offered nothing constructive," he claims. "I have to wonder what their hidden agenda is. With all the fake facts and made up information they have put out, you have to think they are hiding something from the voter. They talk about cutting taxes but don’t tell you what services they will cut. They support shrinking police and fire service,” said McDonald.

“Gary Gardiner and his tax payer association friends say they will cut your taxes. What they will really do is cut your property values,” said McDonald.
